Apologies and explanation

Okay, so... many of you have probably noticed that I am le passing out a bit lately. 1. I'm sorry about that. 2. the reason is all with the fact that my body hates me.

For Slightly TMI Explanation of Why ) So yeah. That's why.

And again, my apologies.

You know what sucks?

When you realize a block, a hurt, something that is inside your head and making you unhappy has a direct, immediate, traceable source.

And, not only is it something like five years old? There is not a gods-be-damned thing you can do about it.

Current Mood: drained drained
First of all...

I love you all. Every one of you.

Second of all, new yarn is SQUISHY. I suddenly understand all the Malabrigo squee.

Third of all, Sherlock Holmes was awesome and actually, I thought, very loyal to the source material. It's just loyal to it from 2009 instead of from 1909. It is also the live action version of The Great Mouse Detective. Just think about it for a minute. Srsly.

Fourth of all, this book makes a lot of things make a lot more sense for anyone who plays Dragon Age: Origins. So far, I've just started on the sequel/second prequel, and I both like it and think that it will make a lot more sense of some other stuff in Origins as well as some of the stuff coming up in Awakening. ...wee!Duncan is the funniest thing ever.

Fifth of all, there is no fifth.

Sixth of all, this show is absolutely fantastic and I am absolutely floored and saddened that there is no more because OMG. I also might have to get up my fanficy urge to try and write a crossover because FOR SRS MAN.

And that's about it for the moment. Bizarre tale of my knitting exploration will be going on the Fotolog soon.

Need cat macros and cute things. Stat.

Before the storm arrives, before the wind
That rakes the sour heavens north to west
Makes its argument against our kind,
I stake the right to sing against the wind.

The valleys moan in river-throated voices.
The forests shake their fingers in remorse.
The hills that hunch their shoulders in aversion
Cannot quell the swell of windy voices.

In the airy chorus that advances,
Brooms of anger sweeping down the sky,
My voice is bent, bereft of future tenses,
Incompetent against the gale's advances.

Still the voice will spill, the story tell
Of Oz's ancient days and hero days.
If none to hear it, none shall hear it well,
Told well until the poet's voice is still.

In Depth Response: End of Time Part 2

...I'm not even covering Part 1. Because it was a hot mess. RTD reversed his usual pattern of good first one, crap second one this time around.

Extended Review and Babble )

Totally up for discussion if anyone wants to babble with me.

Quick Yuletide Pimp!

To Not Forget, which is a Liir/Trism with a dash of Glinda. It's lovely and domestic and hilariously perfect to the characters and it made me bounce like a madwoman because it's perfectly THEM. If you (like me) have wondered why these two have no fic (and, you know, want to read it!) TOTALLY check it out.

Point 3: M'dad got me an Amazon GC for more goodies.

Point 4: M'playing Dragon Age because it's SHINY

Point 5: PSA - make sure not to close your flue if you have any open fire, chestnut-roasting or not... for more, IM me.

Point 6: I has SO MUCH YARN. It makes me happy.

Point 7: I am not sure how to start fof the Peaks Island Hood. The instructions for the shell motif are making me boggle.

Point 8: I just turned 26 a minute ago. Not sure if that's cool or weird.

Point 9: I have absolutely nothing planned for tomorrow because I long ago acknowledged the fact that my birthday is the Most Inconvenient Day Of the Year Ever and thus don't really expect anyone to be around to do anything.

Point 10: ...go see Sherlock Holmes or no? I'm a Doyle fan, so I'm wobbling. And rereading the free public domain copy on said previously-mentioned shiny.

...not much else, really.

Totally Non Spoilery Response to tonight's Doctor Who special:

WHAT IN THE BLEEDING BLUE FUCK?

Still not spoilery re: actual information, but just to be sure. )

Fun and Not Fun

Getting soda for the fridge = FUN!

Falling (or rather, sliding forcefully) down the stairs = NOT FUN!

Going out to buy gifts = FUN!

Accidentally dragging the yarn for your project across the hall hooked to your sock and having to scrap a few yards of it that've become something akin to the Flying Spaghetti Monster = NOT FUN!

Getting a gift card for the store you're going to = FUN!

Not being able to use it till after Christmas = NOT FUN!

Getting another one from the store = UBER FUN (for my birthday, anyway)

Once again, HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all of you *WAAAAVES* And thank you all for the cards, those who sent them.

You know...

Between the awesome RP friends who totally understood that whole 'life is evil sometimes and kills brains' thing, the wonderful [info]mephron who is always willing to make sure I eat, the always fantastic [info]cherry_chiicake who I got to see last last weekend for a wonderful visit that totally made my several-months, and the super combo of [info]ygrane and [info]azremodehar who sent me a box full of nummy food including fresh homemade marinara and homemade pickles?

I have the best friends ever. Nothing specific for today, but [info]sylveraven, [info]highlander_ii, [info]bookelfe, [info]camwyn, [info]steahl, [info]vaultedthewall, [info]twintailmadb, [info]m_supercomputer, [info]avariel_wings etc. etc. etc. So many more, and if you aren't listed, it's probably just because I can't remember your username/the spelling.

It's rare I think to say this, it's rare that the thought is so blazingly bright in my brain, but...

I am truly blessed by all of you. No sarcasm, no joke. It's such a simple thing, but it's all I can think to say on it. I am truly blessed by your presence in my life, and I am truly blessed to know you. I will never stop being thankful for you all.

Nothing more. Nothing less. Just... thank you for being my friend.

Today was good.

SPINNY THING!

Lookit the shiny! )

This was my little squee purchase this week, a yarn swift which I have wanted forever and a day. I haven't been able to find one for under 40 dollars, so when I found this pretty wooden one on ebay at buy it now for 19, I almost bounced out of my chair.

I've wound a few balls on it (by hand as I don't have a ball winder, not that I particularly mind as I find winding a ball of yarn somewhat soothing) and it works great. I also like that I can collapse it down into a straight line if I'm not going to be using it for a while. Now all I have to do is to clean out the little table and the cubby that I want to use for dealing with my fiber stuff and move the table over into my little nook of awesomeness (it has many awesome things, not the least of which are bookshelves and my fridge) and put the stuff I haven't entirely unpacked yet into the other side that I don't use nearly as much.

...so 'bye, Sunday' pretty much.

What's really nice is that I discovered one of the skeins of yarn I traded last year is MUCH cooler than I thought it was. I thought it was a relatively nice rainbow color, but it turns out that it's a gradual rainbow color that should come out really awesomely once it's actually knitted. Since it's also the softest of the hand-spun I traded for, I'm really excited to figure out something to do with it. I just which I knew how long it was.

Anyway! Squeeing done, I also picked up some Caron at the Michael's, as well as a pair of lit-tip knitting needles because I'm tired of getting yelled at for having my laptop out while we watch movies. So far, the Caron is at least being INTERESTING for an acrylic.

I also picked up an external harddrive in an effort to not be a total dork about my files. I used to have an iPod that I used as a pseudo external hard drive, but as it's dying, I've decided that putting things on the external and having a smaller mp3 player is probably best since I usually get on a kick and only want to listen to like 100 songs ANYWAY. So part one, DONE! Part 2 is for next paycheck when I can afford to get an iPod nano, unless you all have a better suggestion for an MP3 player that also has a video camera on it? Or an mp3/vid player without one that's significantly cheaper.

Anyway, not much else. I'm kind of boring today.

Oh My God

... Criminal Minds, did you REALLY just blatantly rip off an episode from FOREVER KNIGHT? Forever Knight? FOREVER KNIGHT??

REALLY?

I'm just going to be over here, boggling.

ETA: Okay, his name is Paul Davies. I'm not insane.

ETA2: ...dude, you're QUOTEING IT NOW.

ETA3:"Are you a *vampire*, Mr. Davies?" *dies laughing*

Belgariad/Malloreon tarot thing continued

Possible pip cards? Thoughts? )

Just my first thoughts. Any ideas?

ALSO!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [info]cupenny and of course, [info]bookelfe!

HEY EDDINGS FANS ON MY FLIST!

So I restarted [info]78degrees (which if you haven't checked out, you totally should). And I've started delving back into the tarot again. Cue explanation stuff. )It was as I got to the keyword descriptions of the Major Arcana that an image hit me like a shot, a picture from a book series that has literally shaped me in so many ways I can't even count. A story that's really, honestly, been with me since I was very young. A series that, when I bring it up to anyone who's read the books, brings up lives being changed, memories being made, friendships begun, an understanding... home. Comfort.

It was an image of young Garion atop a log on the river, eyes on a black, horse-riding figure in the distance.

I want to do a Belgariad tarot. Full pip cards, court cards, the whole shebang. I've started to assign characters/pictures to various cards, but

1. I'd love help figuring out the images/imagery from the fans (either of tarot or of the books) on my flist
2. ...anyone want to help with the illustration?

I don't know what'll come of it. Maybe, if it gets finished, I can find some small 'print your own' type thing on the internet and offer copies to folks. Mostly, I just want to do it. I want to imagine it and I want to make this something real.

The cards are supposed to be a guide, a helper on the journey, and I've heard of so many people who've had these characters assist them on their journeys besides even me that I can't quite let go of this crazy idea. So to get things started:

Major Arcana Ideas )

Court Card Ideas )

Opinions? Declarations of my insanity? Feedback? Help? For reference, the card meanings can be found here and I'd want to do scenes/events from the books for the pips, m'self.

BTW, feel free to send this around to anyone who might be interested. I'm all up for discussion, etc.

My brain's weirdness, let me show you it.

So, uh, I've been playing Primal, this PS2 game from 2003.

And they've got this race called the Wraith.

And then I looked at a picture of the protagonist as a Wraith.

Then I looked at this guy, or rather, this race from Stargate: Atlantis, which started in 2004.

...did they seriously get their badguy idea from a little known video game, or is it me?
