Point 2: I really REALLY did like Planet of the Dead and continue to want to hug Malcolm.

Point 3: I found my mouse! ...the computer kind.

Point 4: I want more Atlus RPGs for DS. This one is kind of fantastic.

Current Mood: annoyed
I believe I have pimped this before, but--

If I haven't, or you haven't seen it, I cannot say enough to recommend this book, a rather sizable chunk of which is under that link for you to read and try out.

...*loves the Posts* *loves them, the precious* *cannot wait until the next book, omg!*

COMM MADE!

For those interested in the aforementioned comm:

For the LJ inclined
For the DW inclined

...I'm insane.

So...

If I set up a comm dedicated to helping people find fannish things (anything from 'that awesome fanvid of Buffy to In This Diary' to 'a Lovecraft-themed hooded sweatshirt' to 'that picture of Jeffrey Dean Morgan where he REALLY looks like Jensen Ackles'), would anyone be interested in joining?

Y/N?

So! Suggestions...

I want a hoodie.

Preferably zip up but pull over also works.

Either fun and fannish or dirt cheap.

Suggestions?

Review of Turn Coat (spoilery past cut)

I wasn't the first person to buy it. I knew I should have gotten it earlier, but, such is life. That said, I stayed up until ridiculous o'clock to finish the damn thing and, well...

I'm not happy.

First off, let's start with the traitor, shall we? The blatantly obvious if you've ever read a book traitor. Because how many times has the bureaucrat pencil pusher been the bad guy? HOW MANY TIMES has he been the traitor? The whole 'overlooked peon' thing is just... it's tired. It's old and tired and the second I saw Peabody, I KNEW it was him. If I hadn't, the whole Erlking book thing would have been a HUGE tipoff.

I know you read Simon R. Green, sir, but please don't start copying his complete inability to keep a plot twist secret. You're better than that.

And not only was it obvious, it was a cop out. It was a chance to do something interesting, really let someone Fall in the eyes, cause some real damage, break some toys, and you took the easy out. In some people, I'd understand that, but you're better than this. I was really disappointed; the only reason you surprised me was because I thought "no, he CAN'T be being this fricking obvious". Bad, man. BAAAD.

Second, SERIOUS lack of Bob. You know, if there's really so little Bob in a book? You're TAKING IT TOO SERIOUSLY.

Third, ...Luccio. Thank you for utterly deconstructing a strong female character. There is a difference between letting her be flawed and human and what you did for your 'plot'. Completely. Unnecessary. And the weird love-love triangle thing felt flat to me, making the whole thing feel really really contrived. Could I see Morgan doing something like that for love? Yes. But the way it was executed... No.

Fourth, where the HELL was Ramirez? Seriously. SERIOUSLY. I know he's a relatively minor character, but cutting him entirely out of the last two books especially when he has good reason to BE there is just sloppy. I won't even start on Marcone. You thoroughly Ficus Plant-Maltese Falconed him during the LAST book that pissed me off.

Fifth, White Court Vampires = HOT. WE GOT IT THE LAST TIME. THE TIME BEFORE THAT. OH AND THE TIME BEFORE THAT. The miles of description, while somewhat in character, was really irritating. You're making me not like Lara, and I LIKE Lara.

Which brings me to six. The one that... dude. Just... DUDE. Thomas. THOMAS. You know, if he was a girl, they'd be saying he'd gotten 'fridged. Can I just-- REALLY. Was it some kind of backwards payback for Backup? Because that? That was brilliant and fun and awesome and I loved it. It's what made me excited for Turn Coat.

I KNOW that Thomas is really the only person Harry has. I KNOW that Harry considers his family above anything and everything else. But this just... it just STANK of 'let's get Harry alone' and it doesn't wash right for Thomas's character at ALL. It doesn't wash right for the victim of that kind of abuse. It doesn't wash right: period. I really and truly hate what you did, all the character development you washed down the drain. And the downward sliding addict thing? We've seen it. It's been done. He's struggled and you know what, it would be all right to fail. All right to fuck up. But this?

Not happy. I stayed up till 4:30 am to read your book because everyone I knew was freaking out and just like last book, I saw things coming and the whole thing seemed REALLY contrived.

Think I'll go back and read the Alera books for a while. So far, so good.

Dear Brain,

You are not allowed to pick Rick Astley as a young John Taylor, even if he DOES wear a white trenchcoat in that one video.

No.

Bad processing unit. No caffeine.

meme!

When we role-play, we tend to pick up a variety of characters. They could be ones that we like, ones that we want to experiment with, or ones that we just end up making from scratch. Eventually, we come to associate with (some of) them in one way or another. Out of all the characters (past or present) I role-play, pick out the one I am most like and tell me why you think so.

Ridicu-list is here.

Though, uh, if I expire at being in the same room with the man, I blame you entirely.

And and and Jacobean crack. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

*flails*

Because I needed to be utterly terrified this early in the day.

...not for my LJ. For my job.
